Sister's Programme

The Al-Ikhlas Trust Sisters’ Committee is a vibrant and active group which organises a range of different activities and events to generate community spirit, foster Islamic sisterhood and raise funds for future Al-Ikhlas aims and objectives. This page is regularly updated with Sisters’ news and events – be sure to visit regularly for the latest news

Their most recent function is the Tilawa / Tajweed class initially directed towards sisters who cannot speak Arabic and the English language was the core for discussion during these classes. As of this coming Saturday (15 October 2011), the lectures will be run on a weekly basis every Saturday starting at 12:45pm inshaa' Allah

One of the recent sister's function was the welcome gathering as Sister Amber Baker took shahadah at Al-Ikhlas Centre on Sunday 19 December 2010 in the presence of some 20 supporting sisters.

The sisters recently organised a fortnightly series of lectures that commenced Saturday 2 October 2010 run by a qualified sister. Currently the lectures are given in Arabic. Since last July (2011), the lectures became a monthly function.

One of their achievements was the Ladies' Tea Party to raise funds for the Trust on 30 August 2008. A separate post is already on the events page.

Hajj Sponsorship

Al-Ikhlas Trust took initial steps towards gaining support from an overseas Islamic organisation, with the intention of providing an annual grant that would allow an appropriate community member to attend Hajj. The organisation in question specifies certain criteria, in order to help make Hajj possible for someone who wouldn’t otherwise have the chance.

Al-Ikhlas Trust is also exploring a similar arrangement for funding so as to provide opportunities in the future for reverts to travel for ‘Umra and gain further Islamic knowledge and experience.

Friday Khutbas

Al-Ikhlas Trust ran a series of Jum'aa Salat (Friday Prayers) over 2008 and 2009. The issue of not having a permanent facility was an obstacle facing the continuation of the service. We therefore decided to stop the service till the issue of having proper facility and a qualified imam can be sorted out inshaa' Allah
